Lions pin down success, prevail over Black Raiders, Huskies

WINSLOW — The Belfast wrestling team hit the road for a tri-meet on Wednesday, Jan. 14, as the Lions squared off with Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield and the host Black Raiders of Winslow.

In the end, the Lions roared to a pair of wins as they bested the Black Raiders 63-15 and Huskies 70-12.

The individual Belfast results, with Lion grapplers listed first, were:

106 pounds — Brendan Bruns won by forfeit over Winslow; and pinned Zyanthony Moss, MCI.

113 pounds — Austin Merando beat Devon Vigue, Win; and won by forfeit over Maine Central Institute.

120 pounds — Chase Curry won by forfeit over Winslow; and beat Chris Watrous, MCI.

126 pounds — Dakota Hustus won by forfeit over Winslow and MCI.

132 pounds — Dakota Coleman won by forfeit over Winslow; and was pinned by Dylan Dahlberg, MCI.

138 pounds — Brandon Waterman pinned Anthony Park, Win; and won by forfeit over MCI.

145 pounds — Jacob Racioppi pinned Andrew Beckwith, Win; and won by forfeit over MCI.

160 pounds — Jesse Bishop won by forfeit over Winslow and MCI.

170 pounds — John Capella lost to Ryan Fredette, Win; and won by forfeit over MCI.

182 pounds — Austin Sprague won by forfeit over Winslow and MCI.

195 pounds — Caleb Hilt won by forfeit over Dylan Inman, Win; and won by forfeit over MCI.

220 pounds — Simon Lacasse was pinned by Nathaniel Beckwith, Win; and was pinned by Seth Wilcox, MCI.
