Bragg, Powers help Camden Hills capture ‘B’ state wrestling crown

FRYEBURG, Maine — Camden Hills’ Calan Bragg and Coleman Powers each captured individual titles to help propel the Windjammers to the Class B state wrestling crown Saturday at Fryeburg Academy.
Seven Camden Hills wrestlers earned top-four finishes to give the Windjammers a narrow victory over Fryeburg 131.50-128.50.
Wells finished third with 118 points and was followed by Belfast (93), Gardiner (79), York (74), Ellsworth (65), Lincoln Academy of Newcastle (45), Morse of Bath (37), Mountain Valley of Rumford (32), Maine Central Institute (30.50), Caribou (23), Medomak Valley of Waldoboro (23), Oak Hill of Sabattus (13), Hermon (11), Oceanside of Rockland (11), Central of Corinth (10) and Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor (4).
Bragg earned a state title when he defeated Ellsworth’s Jack Weeks by technical fall (17-2) in the 132-pound division while Powers captured his state crown by pinning Fryeburg’s Matt Boucher in the 145-pound class at the 53-second mark.
Camden Hills’ James Archer and Connor Winchenbach each recorded a second-place finish as Fryeburg’s Connor Sheehan pinned Archer at 3:26 in the 113 division while Gardiner’s Danny Delgallo pinned Winchenbach at 2:20 in the 138 class.
Chris Weiss (126) and Jared Gilbert (170) each earned a third-place finish for the Windjammers and John Underhill (120) recorded a fourth.
Also earning individual state titles were: Peter Delgallo (Gardiner, 106), Zach Sheehan (Fryeburg, 120), Colin Sevegney (Wells, 126), Michael Alvarez (Morse, 152), Zach Faskianos (York, 160), Michael Curtis (Wells, 170), Ian MacFawn (Fryeburg, 182), Peter Kelley (Belfast, 195), Michael Garland (Ellsworth, 220) and Marc Surprenant (Wells, 285).
